Lift
Lift is a portable shelf designed to display books and magazines. Lift is not freestanding, so any wall can serve as its support. Two zigzag plywood columns form the main structure. Wooden and copper bars connect the columns and hold magazines, while yellow steel trays support standing books. The trays become narrower towards the top. Lift measures 2000 mm in height and 600 mm in width and weighs 23 kg, so one person can carry it. The design avoids ornamentation and reduces the number of components by using existing walls.
Lift Portable and Adaptable Shelf by Shiva Pouryousef Khameneh has been highlighted as a grand illustration of industrial design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Lift Portable and Adaptable Shelf received the Bronze A' Design Award in Furniture Design in 2020. The A' Furniture Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design recognition program that celebrates superior design of chairs, tables, sofas, beds, cabinets, shelves, desks, wardrobes and more.
