Birdhouse Nest
Birdhouse Nest is a toothpick box designed for the table. The box is shaped like a bird's nest, and the toothpicks form the nest around a small bird. Each time a toothpick is taken out, part of the nest is removed, which recalls the loss of trees and of the habitats of birds. The design uses this simple metaphor to encourage care for nature and ecology. Birdhouse Nest is made of environmentally friendly plastic, shaped by plastic processing and assembly, and measures 78 by 78 by 86 millimeters.
Birdhouse Nest Toothpick Box by Di Lu was identified as an innovative illustration of industrial design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Birdhouse Nest Toothpick Box won the Iron A' Design Award in Homeware Design in 2024. The A' Decorative Items and Homeware Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design accolade that rewards superior design of tableware, lighting fixtures, cookware, decorative accessories, bathroom accessories, furniture, textiles, kitchen gadgets and more.
