The Pebble
Pebble is a street lighting element designed for urban public spaces. The rounded shape recalls a natural pebble and can be placed vertically or horizontally. In the horizontal position Pebble also works as seating, while the vertical position offers a leaning support. Light is emitted from a slit on the levelled surface, giving low-level illumination that reduces light pollution. The body is made of a cement-based composite that reuses sludge waste from the cutting of andesite stone. Pebble is about 60 cm high and 40 cm wide.
The Pebble Street Lighting by Gizem Deniz Guneri has been identified as an outstanding representation of industrial design by the A' Design Award & Competition. The Pebble Street Lighting was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Street Furniture Design in 2023. The A' Street and City Furniture Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design award which celebrates superior design of benches, bollards, bus shelters, bicycle racks, litter bins, planters, signage, lighting fixtures and more.
